That's also the reason why I've chosen a totally meaningless word as the title for this blog.
"Riikinkukko" means "peacock" and has totally no value at all in my live.
I couldn't decide what word I would choose, then I tought, why does it matter? It's not like anyone would know it's meaning.
On my first encounter with a Fin, I wanted to learn Finnish and did so in the most childish way.
Translate the name of the things I see.. One day a peacock appears and a person makes something significant of the most insignificant thing. Hence the name of this blog.
It's my first time in Finland now and except for a word that has utterly no meaning at all, I know not one word of Finnish. This creates situations in which you find yourself wondering what words are written on everyday signs. Words that would never even have caused you to pause for one second, now give you the most difficult time. Your imagination starts to kick in and you're walking through a city, with a smile on your face, just because you don't understand anything.
Meaninglessness becomes meaningful.
